Tulkiyan - Gordon
HHA manages Tulkiyan, a wonderful example of an Arts and Crafts era home built in 1914 for the Donaldson family and designed by architect B. J. Waterhouse.

Tulkiyan is typical of Waterhouse's distinctive Edwardian houses. In his writing he advocated simplicity and straightforwardness in house planning. The house has a remarkable flow of simple spaces on the ground floor and an economy of planning.
The house and its entire contents were bequeathed to Ku-ring-gai Council by the family in 1985 and have remained untouched to this day. Tulkiyan presents a complete and rare insight into early 20th century Australia.
HHA is currently undertaking a restoration program led by curator Robert Griffin. If you would like to join the volunteer taskforce please contact us at enquiries@hha.net.au
